However, the past is full of strife between religious groups; just look at the Crusades, apartheid or the American settlers' fight against the Native Americans. Religion can cause so much conflict when people misinterpret its teachings and spread lies about them.  Even today, religion can be divisive; it can cause strife between those who think their beliefs are correct and those who don't.

For example, some believe in an allpowerful God who created humanity in His image whereas others believe in a nonanthropomorphic creator that does not have a gender or personality. Some believe in theistic Evolution where species evolve through guidance from a deity; others do not believe in Evolution at all and consider it blasphemy to suggest it happened naturally. You are for God   Religion is an integral part of many people's lives. The word religion comes from the Latin 'religio', which means to lock the mind or to be bound by the mind. In other words, religion is a connection with a higher power. Many believe that life cannot be sustained without religion. Therefore, the world would be devoid of all human emotions, thoughts, and wills.  Early humans believed in a Creator or God. The Babylonian Creation Epic talks about the creation of the world as a divine act. It contains many elements reminiscent of what we consider to be religious today. For example, early Christians believed in the resurrection and considered Mary Magdalene a saint. They also believed in ascension as an act of becoming part of another divine being. Early Christians also celebrated the birth of Christ on a holiday called Christmas. Essentially, religion has evolved over time, but some aspects remain the same.

Religion is often defined as the answer to the question "Who am I?" Early prophets taught religion to early believers through dreams and visions. They were considered higher beings who gave people direction and morality. Priests performed rituals that included sacrifices, prayers, and festivals to maintain balance between nature and the universe. Also, extremists sometimes resort to violence when their interpretation of religion differs from that of others.  Religion can be an integral part of our lives, but when people abuse religion for their own purposes, it can also do great harm. Therefore, it is important to understand that people's interpretation of religion may not be accurate. Ultimately, no one knows what it means to be religious unless you have a personal relationship with God, but no one can know for sure unless you tell them the truth.
